L'immunità per le balle
[Article from Island Krino ]
Information is direct complicity of politicians and problems facing Italy. A recent example? On 17 November, Prime Minister Romano Prodi held a press conference to describe l'operato dei primi 6 mesi di legislatura.
The question must always be held not forget that they are still political. We will take advantage of these documents to account for the commitments made in a few time.
The aspect that I wanted to comment, however, concerns the way in which the media have made the television news: the schema is standard, cross from Tg1 at Open Studio. Before a report on the press conference Prodi and statements of various government policies, then the replicas of Berlusconi and other politicians from the opposition. From the first comes the accusation that he had "received a tremendous legacy," with Prodi, who points out: "deficit of 4% of GDP, rising public debt, primary surplus close to zero." Indeed
macroeconomic data are produced by institutions such as the official Istat, on which there is little to say. But the Knights hit back, saying that "falsehoods are so large that they do not deserve response," and so the same way as its allies. Now, I will not dwell on who is right or not, but I wonder what sense, and that utility has information like that you do not ever come to a conclusion .
We listen to the words of politicians, as we have seen that very often are not able to give speeches based on facts, nor to respond seriously. Rarely would attend a service in which some expert, without being biased, we tell it like it is really showing us the picture, telling us arguing who's wrong and who is right. The reason somewhere exists, except in rare cases. Why do the national news
not use their time differently? A few minutes policy pronouncements, then a deepening treated by a few experts in the field, serious, do not get lost in political propaganda, and that there in no time preclude the actual economic situation of Italy. You can not correct information we can have it only once a week with a Report, while other days we are invaded by chatter. There is no news director who tries to revolutionize the way we give news ?
Thanks to this way of doing journalism, unfortunately, politicians in Italy have a special immunity bales they say, because there is nobody who stands up and says, "Look, is telling a lie." It would be the case abolish this immunity, for the good of all. And it is for information to do so.
